Bubbles and Bows Ball October 2011

On 8th October 2011, 200 people attended the 2nd Bubbles & Bows Ball at The Felbridge Hotel & Spa, to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. We were delighted that thanks to generous donations, active auction bidding, bountiful spending on the lucky envelopes and flurries with the casino tables, over £10,000 was raised.

Our huge thanks go to the many Table Sponsors who donated funds and guest prizes, enabling us to give each female guest a small goodie bag and each table a jumbo tin of chocolates. Thanks too to Waitrose for supporting the first outing of Pass-the-Parcel. Who would have thought grown adults could have so much fun unwrapping a few layers of tissue paper?

Before supper guests were invited to participate in Hit & Miss: putting their music knowledge to the test and recalling whether a track from the 60s onwards was a Number 1 UK hit or whether it just missed the top spot. The lucky, or should we say ‘pop-expert’, winner went home with a case of wine. Thanks to Martyn and Peter for hosting the show.

After supper there was nonstop dancing to the sounds of The Charlie Rivers Band, interspersed with expert choice of tunes from our resident DJ, Danny Pike.

Thanks to all those who donated prizes big and small and to our evening sponsors RCS and The Felbridge Hotel & Spa.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to our loyal guests for supporting our charitable endeavours once again; and an appreciative welcome to all those who were new to the festivities. We hope you will all come again in 2013

Quiz Night & Supper Winter 2011

Winter Supper & Quiz Night, 18th February 2011. On a very chilly February evening 60 guests pitted their wits to compete at the CRUKSussex Fundraisers Winter Supper & Quiz Night. The evening started with warming mulled wine, and then several rounds of challenging questions supplied our volunteer Quiz Master Jeff Cowan. Live music by Corey Wickens and a hearty ploughmans' supper kept spirits high - even for those not taking away the top prize. Well done to 'Where's Dave?' Team for their outstanding general knowledge! Thank you to all that attended, to volunteers on the evening and to those who donated prizes. We raised another £900 for Cancer Research UK and we hope to make this an annual event.

Bubbles and Bows Fashion Show Spring 2010

On a beautiful hot and sunny day in April 2010, about 50 women gathered at the stunning and hospitable Sedgwick Park House, Horsham for an afternoon of champagne cocktails, a preview of ladies summer fashions and afternoon tea. We enjoyed music from Corey, and the event was compered by BBC Sussex and BBC Surrey presenter Danny Pike, raising over £850 for Cancer Research UK.

Our huge thanks go to La Vida boutique in Horsham for making this event possible and kindly donating expertise, time and indeed the clothes. We enjoyed a visual array of stunning evening wear and eminently wearable day attire. Thanks to our willing and elegant volunteer ‘models’ for donating their time too. Also thanks to Cate’s Cakes for the donation of ‘far-too-delicious’ cupcakes that complimented just perfectly the sandwiches and afternoon tea. Sedgwick Park House Sedgwick Park House is a favourite venue of CRUKSussex Fundraisers – providing the perfect backdrop to many of our events. Thanks as always to Mr & Mrs Davison for opening their private home to us and allowing us to enjoy the delights of both the house and garden on this most special of Sundays. If you missed out last time, don’t worry we will be holding another Fashion Show at Sedgwick Park House next year. If you want to put your name on the guest list, please drop us an email. If you would be interested in donating time, services, expertise or products do get in touch. We are already on the lookout for raffle prizes and caterers.

Thanks to everyone involved for getting our 2010 fundraising off to a good start!
